How to Re-import Synced Photos from iPhone to Laptop

Photos application is a built-in application to manage and edit photos in iOS devices including iPhone. When managing photos, Photos application arranges the photos we take into Moments, Collections and Years. Inside Photos application, we can even see its default folder such as Camera Roll which contains photos we’ve taken from iPhone camera itself. We can also create a new album with photos from Camera Roll. There’re 2 main photo album categories in the Photos application:

  1. A photo album that contains photos that were not taken from Mac/PC. The photo album that includes this category is Camera Roll, a photo album from third-party applications or album that we created by manually at Photos application, and the resource is taken from Camera Roll. All photos from this category will be detected by Mac/PC and we are able to import photos to Mac/PC.
  2. A photo album that contains photos that we sync from Mac/PC.  All photos in this album category cannot be detected by Mac/PC and we won’t be able to import photos to Mac/PC.

We own a photo album from the second category on our iPhone, which we’ve synced from Mac/PC and we want to re-import from iPhone to our Mac/PC? Perhaps the reason because those photos do not exist on our Mac/PC anymore or we’ve deleted them, or we’ve lost our old Mac/PC. By default, there is no other method to re-import, besides send those photos to our email, but of course, it will take forever, especially if we have hundreds or even thousands of photos.

How to Re-import Synced Photos from iPhone to Laptop

Our choice goes to the kindness of third-party developers and I choose iTools. There are many other products with the same idea that you can decide on, so, the choice is yours.

You can check their official website for iTools at www.itools.cn (Chinese version)

or you can try to download for Mac or PC

After you download and install that application, if there is a message to update, then download the latest version to ensure stability.

Next steps that you should follow are:

  • Launch the application
  • Plug your iPhone
  • If it has been detected, choose Photos (1) then choose the album you want to import
  • Click Import (2) then click where you are going to store that album/photos.
  • That’s all.
